I totally agree with Diddy. I think that every manager/producer should be loyal to an artist through thick and thin. That’s real. I didn’t catch the BET performance,but I hope to see more of Cassie on the radio,TV, or online. She is one of my favorite artist to listen to and sing to.

everytime diddy went off on some diddiness, cassie just giggled and laughed. the best part about watchin these vids is seeing her honesty with the camera. nothing contrived, just her expressing without censoring. i wish she’d leave the game now before it taints her. but unfortunately her star is on the rise and it’s gonna be hard to stop her. and with the impending success comes the shift.

To Diddy & Ryan & Cassie, I’m sure you guys know this but let me bring it up in case.
When exposing someone constantly and so closely to the audience, it’s only natural that there are going to be those who will insult in any and every way for attention. So don’t take it too personal.
Personally, I see Cassie ( and how people I don’t think understand ) she is an ” Entertainer ” there is a show, a video of dance, a beautiful look to look at, a soft voice to relax to with her. She didn’t come onto the scene claiming to be Whitney Houston, Ryan never claimed her to be. But personally, I see her as todays Aliyah.
So to Ryan: All the best homeboy, you seem on the right path with your ” Movement ” maybe one day we will collaborate on a production together. Your style is very euro to me of the England style which is refreshing to hear these days considering alot on the radio is so generic. Someone has to kill the 808 lol, Lets start our own ANTI 808 Movement lol
Cassie: You seem like such a sweet girl who is in the middle of the whirlwind with 2 poles consisting of Ryan and Diddy to hold onto for security . They seem like they are being the right people in watching your back and securing your ground.

(TRUE) I can’t do anything but respect it. (i still have love for her as an artist learning the true art. I’ve been through a similar process many of times working with recording artists and sometimes it takes a little extra from someone with experiance to guide and develope the artist to be where they need to be. It takes real love, friendship & devotion to do such a thing even when profits are low. We all fall, but its how we get up that makes the difference. Cassie aint goin nowhere but the top.. I haven’t been a avid follower of NS mainly because I’m trying to build the same type of repertoire in the industry but I think that this PSA adds to the fire that the haters want. I think Cassie had a monumental debut, I think BET fucked up the Soundcheck because it sounded to me that the mics were preset. Honestly, I think that most artists have wack shows but then it don’t really matter when your getting close to a million spins a week. Don’t bow down to the haters, keep the movement going. Diddy, I got the album, been spinning it like crazy down here in ATL, get a representative at me.

Wow. The amount of ignorance that just came out of this man’s mouth is amazing. I’m actually surprised that Ryan Leslie would associate himself with such a person considering his educational background and general disposition. I understand that business is business but can Sean Combs please group up? How many expletives are necessary in conveying your point? Furthermore, ‘he sticks with artists on Bad Boy for life?’ I don’t think I’ve heard a more erroneous statement from him to date. In fact, Sean Combs wouldn’t even have Bad Boy Records had it not been for the monumental efforts of a one Biggy Smalls and the then Junior Mafia. I think he has a tendency to forget that– because parading around in a t-shirt with Biggy’s image from time to time doesn’t mean that you are properly honoring the man that has made you your millions. Further, when that man’s family is living considerably lower than this vast empire you purport to have self created.
And “criticism” isn’t about “haters.” Perhaps there are those that “hate” as you say, and there are those, like myself, that demand something other than this poor excuse for quality, substantial music. Just like the title record, and thought process behind Christina Aguilera’s latest work “Back to Basics,” perhaps it is high time artists, musicians and entertainers alike did just that. Enough with the pretty faces that can’t sign live or depend on a team of back up dancers—I think there are plenty of those already. If Cassie wants to silence the critics and the haters, then she needs to learn to sing, plain and simple. The vaudeville acts become tiresome and I believe the Billboard speaks for itself. When you are a member of such a massive label as BadBoy, and your work was as quality as you purport, then your album would be at least in the Top 100. Simply put, the proof is in the pudding.

well, thats what you call ‘manufactured’. most traditional musicians in WHATEVER genre have gigging, recording, industry experiences waaaaaaaay before they are even picked up by any label. even if they are picked up in the early stages of their music career, most of them would have been prepared and exposed to whatever they need to before they get to the ‘fame & glory’ stage.
manufactured artists dont. they go straight to the top.
hence, the ‘cassie effect’.
ask ANY musician right now: if u have a hit record on billboard and you ’still’ have… ehem… *stagefright*, it doesnt make sense to them.
i used to think the idol series is bullshit coz it’s tailored and manufactured, but at least those kids get exposed to whatever they need to be exposed to (albeit in an extremely sped up manner). and plus they can actually sing (some of them).
cassie, we do understand that you are “working your ass off”. do keep in mind the rest of us musicians are too. and some us have been for the past 10 years or even more and not even halfway to wherever you are right now. if you think whatever you’ve been doing for the past 1+ year is difficult, trust the rest of industry: you havent seen nothing yet. and from your last BET performance, that’s proven to be documented proof of that.
as someone said before, “the people at the bad boys offices must be panicking right about now” and i was right, with this video message.

I’ma singer myself and yea I aint famous (tryna get there) and i know its not easy. I’m doin my best to become the best…and that takes time and determination.
I can respect Cassie as a celebrity. she made it…she’s doing her thang and i’m happy that she made her dreams come tru. But i cant respect her as an artist. because i have a passion for music..i live, eat, shit, and breath this every gott-damn day of my life….and no body had to “teach” me my talents. And singers, songwriters, producers, and watnot are ARTISTS. I cant respect that she’s a famous recording artist because she can hold a note, speak over a beat, shake her ass, and looks really pretty. And its even worse when I can turn on Showtime at Apollo or even go into my church and see 10 year old littler girls who can sing and blow Cassie out of the water.
So i have love for R.Les, Bad Boy, and NS and even Cassie…but from an artist stand point i have my reasons..and good reasons, as to why i dont respect her as a recording artist.

I don’t know whether anyone reads this…
As a person who has recently started to follow the NS4LIFE journals, I don’t understand why Cassie needs Diddy to defend her actions. As a recording artist, a case of supposed ’stagefright’ really shouldn’t be defense for a bad performance, considering this has happened more than once. I also checked out Cassie’s blog, and I haven’t seen much footage of her actually singing, or working it out in the studio, or just working on her craft. I only say this because I also checked out RHEA’s NS4LIFE Journal (not just because she’s my namesake haha) but this girl can really sing, you see her constantly on the grind, working with different producers, writing her songs, and getting her name out there…
If you want to market someone on the net, you need to show the viewers that she has something worth watching other than just a pretty face… I really hope that she improves and starts to take this seriously because I’m starting to lose respect for her as a real artist, as well as Diddy’s backing.
Ryan…. YOU ARE A GENIUS! I admire your drive and you are so talented and intelligent , you are doing big things…. still waiting to see you break out

all i gotta say is that i see potential in Cassie as a great artist.. and yes i did catch that performance on BET.. it was wack like that! but i also caught the performance on MTV that shit was hot..
Cassie just get on the grind to become a betta artist. do a few songs that vary your vocal range.. and get wit some great choreographers and show off your dance moves.. and one thing that you can do is work the crowd.. i knew everyone knew the lyrics to ME & U on MTV soo have them sing with you.. jus wanna see a Filipino succeed in the business.. =]

The first time I heard Cassie I really liked her voice from the me and U song I’m 46 yrs. old. Ryan Leslie did an exceptional job.
I agree with Diddy.
My son and his Rapping partner Jason are aspiring rappers who just got back from Iraq (Army) he has a song called don’t let go that he and Jason wrote in Iraq. It IS very GOOD.
Although through the years it took a while for rap music to grow on me, I’ve come to understand it, and like it from my son’s music and him talking about haters on his songs (what a shame).
In the music industry their will be hit and misses their should not be any haters.
