Low Key at Nobu
Spent the day brainstorming with Rasheed about how to really surprise everyone in a few weeks with my major album announcement. Heard from Cassie around 6 with an update on her first choreography session with Rhapsody and got a call around 8pm from Lil X inviting me to the newest Nobu location on 57th, where I caught up with LA Reid and Isiah Thomas made an appearance. Dinner was very well prepared, and I enjoyed an excellent conversation with X and Portia Kee from Ethnicity Models. Got home and was greeted by a neighbor who had gone to Nas & Kelis’s party at Lotus the night before and wanted to show off a prized party favor - lip gloss.
All in all a low key nite.

Ryan…this is real talk. Its amazing how ur able and willing to put ur life and experiences on the web to share with others…no matter how big or small. And the most important thing that we are seeing here…isnt the flossing…or the women…or the lifestyle….but the drive, dedication, and determination it takes. I do two things before I step into my studio to do music or when I feel like im done for the day…one is I have a picture of Pharrell in the studio alone late nite handing his business writing lyrics…and the second thing is check out your blog, because it gives me the willingness and determination to continue forth with my craft. Ive been producing for 4 years now…created a buzz in Los Angeles, but my work ethic has always been slacking…but watching you do what you do is inspiring. Its like Karl Malone said, “I work hard everyday because I know if im not working…theres someone out there working to knock me off.” And of course im not working to knock you off…but to hopefully one day be where your at because one thing I can see in ur blogs is its one thing to be hungry for more…but in that hunger you have contentment for what you already have. Yet you still stay on top of your game to reach higher highs and that level of success that you search for. From your promotion ideas…to your producing…from ur touring…to your writing…you do everything at a top level…and you do it well. Kevin Liles book “Make it Happen” was the best thing ive ever read…but your blogs are his words brought to vision. I myself plan on doing the things that you do and starting my own legacy in music…so I thank you for giving me the vision and the blueprint on how to do it…and letting people see and know that its possible. If theres anything I can do….even though it might be small…just let me know because this is what us youth of America and the world needs to see…the business behind the music. So keep making it happen…because even though u may not know it…as ur making it happen for urself…ur making it happen for others. And who knows…maybe one day we may see each other at the top…but even if u get there first…ill be able to say R Les reached back and showed me the way.

You are truly a great inspiration to us young up-and-comers. I can barely find time to give back to my fan base, but you showed me the importance of doing that, because if I can do for others what you have done for me, the amount of success we can collectively have as young black entreprenuers has no limits. i hope you get to read this, and I hope this inspires you to keep doing what you’re doing the best you can do, as you have inspired me to do the same.

Hi Mr. Leslie!!! I heard the full version of “Where U Gonna Be” and I love it!!!!! It’s on constant, constant REPEAT!!! I was feeling the beat when you had it as background for one of your journal entries, and now that it’s an actual song, it makes it even better. How do you do it?? Much much love!!!
