The Reachback, Part 5
The live Reachback streak continues with this week’s question from Jib, the host of NENX, the New England Network Experience, a grassroots television program broadcast on local cable in that region. In this clip, I am referring to the power of internet distribution when I say “the playing field has been equalled” (specifically the ability to showcase your music to millions of potential fans on-line via social networking sites like MySpace, Bolt.com, and Youtube).

Good point, but what do you think is going to happen to the internet, once it gets saturated with a ton of indie music artist, using blogs to get their voice heard? Do you think everyone’s now “unique” message will become drowned out in the mass internet outreach, or do you think there will be another medium for folks to once again make their playing field level for all opponents?
Also, what do you think is going to happen when major record labels and media networks start using blogs such as this, and other new viral marketing techniques to attract their target audience?

The internet is paramount.

Whats Up Next Selection,
I go by the name of Chris Moore. Im a 19 year old producer from Los Angeles, California. Ive spoken to R-Les once before about my appreciation for his blogs and how I am truly a full supporter of the NS4Life movement. (So he’ll remember, www.myspace.com/chris_moore) My ultimate dream would be to join the team and help push it to the forefront of entertainment. Whether I become a producer, intern, or whatever I will be there to play my role in building a championship team, because I believe in everything NS stands for, making dreams come true, and bringing good, world class records to life. I know your looking for people who posses the “4D’s” and im here to let you know, I live and breath the “4D’s.” So whatever I can do, even relocate to the East Coast, or hold down the NS movement here on the West Coast…Im willing and ready. Ill do anything to join the NS Team. I know you get tons of these mails a day, but I promise you with my life…this will be the best endevour and investment…and I promise I will work my hardest to meet deadlines, tasks, and challengest set before me, for as ur friend says, “Challenges are well hidden opprotunities…” It once was a dream of mine to work behind and learn from Mr. Kevin Liles himself….but now I see my reality is to work behind and for the next biggest thing to hit the music industry…Ryan Leslie.
I look forward to hearing from you and God Bless.
NS4Life,
Chris Moore

Thank you for sharing this unique and unparalleled look into the life of a music producer. I can only say that I wish there were more people like you in the music industry and more video diaries being done by people of your caliber. I think your work is groundbreaking and creating new life in what (at times) can be a stagnant market.
Thank You, Marc “Matrix” DuPain

Hello Ryan. I have been reading everything that you have posted here on ns4life.com and on myspace. I am a fan of you and your work. You have great songwriting and production skills….and not to mention…a high level of intellect.
I definitely would like to become the next big songwriter/producer like you. I’m an aspiring songwriter/producer. I’ve been writing songs ever since I was young. I have always loved writing poetry and songs. But I definitely love the world of music production. There is nothing more better than creating new sounds and lyrics. Whenever I do that…it just hits a major spot for me. It feels somewhat “therapeutic” to me. I go through life everyday experiencing the great sounds of my favorite music genres…R&B, hip-hop, and pop.
I’m 24 years old now…and I feel that it is definitely time for me to get my foot in the door. Next Selection seems like the place that I want to be. I would love to write songs and produce for NS. I would love to take this NS journey with you. It will open up a whole new world for me. Even if I have to intern for NS, then I don’t mind that at all. I just want to be exposed to the NS world, and become a part of it. I read your blogs everyday…and you just make me want to enter your NS world more and more. And I am definitely a huge fan of Cassie. She hasn’t been out long at all…and I’m already real deep into her. I would definitely love to work with her someday. We can create something magical in this music industry.
I see in order to be an intern for NS, I would have to live in New York. Unfortunately, I live in Houston, Texas. But even if I had to relocate to New York, then I wouldn’t mind at all. New York seems like a beautiful and great city…and I have always wanted to go there. I’ve been cramped up here in Houston all 24 years of my life. It’s time for me to explore the world out there. Especially the “music” world. I have the hunger and the drive to become a great asset to the NS and the music world. This is all I think about. I’ve been dreaming of doing this since the age of 12. That’s half my life. I’m a pharmacy technician right now…so if this music thing won’t happen for me…then I still have my pharmacy technician certification to fall back on…but songwriting and producing is what I really want to do. Nothing tops that to me.
I congratulate you on your success Ryan. Next Selection is reaching its peak of success…and I would definitely like to assist with reaching that peak. I wish you, Cassie, and NS nothing but the best! You deserve it! I hope to hear from you very soon Ryan. God bless…

I really like what you have to say in many of your reachback clips….For instance, working with what you have when you don’t have much money haha. Well, I aspire to be an artist and I have a passion for music (I write songs, play piano, guitar etc.) but the only problem I’ve run into is finding a way to put the songs I write with a great beat. Do you have any suggestions on how to get started with combining the words I write with quality music so that I can begin to cut a demo?
